Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a form of meditation and is a mind-body approach to life that helps us to relate more effectively to experiences. It involves paying attention to our thoughts and feelings in a way that increases our ability to manage difficult situations and make wise choices, so that instead of reacting to stress in a purely emotional way, we can respond to it in a more constructive fashion.

‘Mindfulness means being awake. It means knowing what you are doing’ – Jon Kabat-Zinn

The Science

There exists a wealth of clinical research into the benefits of mindfulness, which include increased memory, greater self-awareness and compassion. In addition, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy is an approved treatment for recurrent depression.
